Buckingham Palace announces it and underlines the “joy of the King”, who has never hidden the desire to separate the fate of his brother Andrea from his nieces
Third child on the way for Eugenie of York, daughter of the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Buckingham Palace announced it, adding the “joy at the news on the part of the King”, who had just returned to London from the triumph of the state visit to the USA, which was then extended with two days in Bermuda, a territory of the British Commonwealth. «Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer», writes the palace, adding that the princess’s first two children, August (5 years old) and Ernest (2 years old) are very excited at the idea of having a brother who will join the family.
The princess and her husband had been photographed in recent days in London after dinner in a restaurant in Mayfair, with her sister Beatrice. And in a photo posted on social media by Eugenie, the first two children are holding the ultrasound that announces the arrival of their little brother.
After the storm over Andrea Mountbatten-Windsor, the announcement of the third child for the Eugenie-Jack Brooksbank couple is a positive note in the current affairs surrounding the house of York, and ultimately the Windsor Firm. What cannot be missed is the annotation of the “King’s joy at the news”.
Natural for the announcement of a new member of the dynasty, who will be placed in 15th position in the line of succession to the throne, even without carrying the title of Royal Highness, who will be added in the summer but who seems to reaffirm King Charles III’s determination to want to separate the destinies of his brother – now deprived of any role even the title of prince – and that of his daughters.
Although in recent months there has been no shortage of underlining in the British press on the involvement or at least knowledge on the part of the former prince’s daughters of their parents’ dangerous friendships. From the beginning, however, King Charles acted in such a way as to preserve the title of the two granddaughters who remain duchess of York.
On 21 April, due to the “fault” of Eugenie and Beatrice at the solemn celebration of the century of Elizabeth II with the plans to remember her in St James’s park and then the reception at Buckingham Palace, the daughters of Andrea and Sarah Ferguson were absent, to avoid embarrassment for the Royal family. As already at Easter Windsor a month ago, Andrea, a former prince who was arrested and then released last February, was absent with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and with them also his daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, who after discussing it with the sovereign would have agreed on alternative plans for the day of celebration in Windsor.
But Charles III, determined to keep the two nieces who are already involved in many Windsor projects in the family circuit, would have already sent the princesses an invitation to the Ascot races in June. One of the great Royal spring gatherings, where the Windsor family is the protagonist.
It was last February 19th when Andrea was arrested at dawn, and then released. And Charles III had declared that he “had learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the suspicion of inappropriate conduct in the performance of a public service”. To add: «It now follows the full, fair, due process of investigation, in an appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. With my family we will continue to do our duty, our job.” Then the king added that he assured “as already said before, our full and total support and cooperation”.
But the heart of the message was in the passage: «Let me state clearly: the law must take its course», I want to be clear, the law must take its course. The Windsor Crown cannot be put at risk by the conduct of one individual and the sovereign and the royal family are ready to do their part.
At the same time, however, the King has moved to preserve the role and future of the duchesses, Eugenie and Beatrice, already involved in recent years by Prince William in official roles such as that of the Royal summer garden parties. After all, it was enough to look at the photo of the centenary of the birth of Elizabeth II a few weeks ago in London – to understand how old the Firm is today, if we make the exception of the couple William and Kate.
But to celebrate with the joy of a new born the century since the birth of the queen of records, here is the announcement of the 15th great-grandchild who, if the queen were alive, she would soon have met.
