The Vatican confirmed this Monday that the Pope Leo XIV will receive the US Secretary of State on Thursday, Marco Rubioan appointment that will take place after the clash between the pontiff and the president Donald Trump.
The meeting between the Pope and Rubio will take place this Thursday at 11:30 local time (9:30 GMT) in the Vatican Apostolic Palace.

After this clash, the head of American diplomacy will fly to Rome to, in addition to other foreseeable commitments in the Italian capital, meet with his compatriot pope and try to shore up the relationship between Washington and the Vatican.
It will not be the first time they see each other since on May 19, 2025, Leo XIV met at the Vatican with Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, both Catholics, one day after the beginning of his papacy.
That same day, the pontiff will also receive the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, whose arrival at the Apostolic Palace is scheduled at 8:45 a.m. local time (6:45 GMT).
