On Saturday, various areas in the occupied West Bank witnessed a new wave of extremist settler attacks that resulted in injuries among Palestinian citizens. These attacks were concentrated in the town of Jalud, located south of the city of Nablus, in addition to the Jabal Jales area in the eastern side of the city of Hebron, which resulted in seven people being injured with varying injuries and bruises.
In the details of the attack that targeted the town of Jalud, local sources reported that a group of settlers attacked the Al-Dhahr area and attempted to violently storm citizens’ homes. The townspeople responded with their bare chests to this attempt, which led to the outbreak of confrontations that resulted in the injury of three citizens who were immediately transferred to a medical center in the neighboring town of Qabalan to receive the necessary treatment.
As for the city of Hebron, the attack was characterized by extreme brutality, as armed settlers from the Havat Gal colony targeted citizens in the Jabal Jales area. The attack was carried out with the direct support of the occupation soldiers, resulting in the injury of four citizens, including two women, amid a state of panic that prevailed among the families living in the area targeted by settlement.
The people are subjected to continuous torture aimed at forcibly displacing them in favor of settlement expansion in the Jabal Jales area.
The Palestinian Red Crescent crews transported three injured people from Hebron to the government hospital, among them the elderly woman, Umm Hamid Al-Zaro Al-Tamimi, who was 71 years old. Medical sources confirmed that the elderly woman was severely beaten by settlers, which required urgent medical intervention to monitor her health condition, which was damaged as a result of the physical abuse.
Citizen Rashid Al-Zaro Al-Tamimi explained that large numbers of settlers gathered in the Jabal Jales area in a clear attempt to seize citizens’ lands and expand the settlement area. He pointed out that these attacks are not isolated, but rather come within a systematic policy aimed at restricting the population and pushing them towards forced displacement to leave their lands and property.
These field developments come in light of the escalation in violence practiced by settlers in various governorates of the West Bank, with the protection and facilitation of the occupation army. The people in the threatened areas call for the need to provide urgent international protection to stop these crimes that target the Palestinian presence and work to change the demographic and geographical reality in the region.
