The company Powerus, which they also manage Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trumpis with the government of their father and the President of the United States Donald Trump signed a contract to supply drones to the US military, US media reports.
Powerus is based in West Palm Beach, and Trump’s sons are on the board. Company president Brett Velicovich confirmed to Bloomberg the first contract with the Pentagon to sell interceptor drones to the US Air Force following a successful test in Arizona.
The drone, called the Guardian-2, is an enemy drone interceptor designed specifically to defend against Iran’s Shahed-type attack drones in the Middle East. The war that created the demand for this product began on February 28th.
The Trump family has built a sizeable portfolio in drone technology and defense through multiple investments aimed at winning US military contracts.
The government has been promoting such deals as part of a broader effort to establish a $1.1 billion domestic manufacturing base for armed drones in the U.S. to replace foreign-sourced equipment.
Ethics experts and critics have expressed concern that the president’s family is directly benefiting from the war on Iran launched by their father’s government.
Eric Trump also publicly celebrated a separate $24 million defense deal acquired by Foundation Industries, in which he serves as chief strategic advisor. The company focuses on artificial intelligence-powered humanoid robots for military use.
