President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudeansaid Monday that the no-confidence motion announcement PSD–GOLD confirms, in his opinion, a political collaboration already outlined between the two formations, which is formalized with this approach.
He emphasized that, from the point of view of parliamentary arithmetic, this alliance has a numerical advantage, but added that, if the motion passes, the new majority should also come up with a governing solution.
Abrudean stated that PNL will not support such a motion and that he does not expect votes against his own premier, Ilia Bolojanon the part of the liberals, citing the firm decisions already taken in party. At the same time, he rejected the idea of a collaboration PNL with a possible government PSD-AUR and specified that, in his opinion, such a scenario would automatically imply a new political formula in the Parliament.
“Today, through this announcement, this PSD-AUR collaboration is practically being formalized. We will see the next steps, of submitting the motion for which signatures are being collected, now. Together, the parliamentary arithmetic is obviously in their favor”, said Mircea Abrudean.
He mentioned that if this collaboration succeeds and the approach is successful, i.e. the censure motion passes, he should continue by proposing a governance solution.
“The democratic rule is clear, whoever brings down a government must also propose the solution. We are waiting for the solution from the PSD”, said Abrudean.
The President of the Senate was asked if the PNL is ready to enter the opposition.
“The PNL voted for this twice. If the PSD submits the motion of censure and votes against its own government, please, of which they were a part, the PNL will no longer collaborate with the PSD. There were two votes in this regard. I have the claim from the National Liberal Party that it is a serious party and I think it will remain a serious party, therefore, the PNL will no longer be part of this coalition,” stated Mircea Abrudean.
About the discussions for the support of another form of government, Abrudean showed that there are discussions and he believes that they will be, because they cannot be stopped and he does not think it is a problem to have these discussions in the future, but they will see if it will still be the case, if the subject of these discussions will still exist.
Regarding a government collaboration beyond the censure motion between PSD and AUR, Mircea Abrudean answered: “Well, there is no other solution, apart from supporting a government, perhaps a minority, by AUR in Parliament. I think that this formalization of this relationship must go further. I think that Mr. Neașu’s statement in this regard was also. The first step must be taken. The first step is submitting the motion together and voting it, obviously. The second step is the proposal of a government of this new coalition”, noted Abrudean.
