According to him, as part of the initiative of the Ministry of Ecology and the Akimat of Astana, a digital waste removal control system has been introduced for the first time in the country.
“For the first time in the history of Kazakhstan, a digital information system was launched in Astana, which plans and monitors waste removal on a daily basis for each container site and each container,” noted Daniyar Baygaraev.
He explained that all container sites and about 18 thousand containers are included in the system, and the removal process is recorded in photo format.

— When the driver comes to pick up waste, he takes a before and after photo. A system using artificial intelligence double-checks this data, eliminating possible falsifications. Thus, we understand for sure that the containers have been removed,” he said.
As the speaker emphasized, it is this pilot project that will become the foundation for the future model of waste management throughout the country. Daniyar Baygaraev also provided specific results of implementing a digital solution.
— Before the system was introduced, the number of complaints about waste removal reached 200. After that, it decreased by 99 percent. Now one or two complaints are recorded per week,” Baygaraev said.
According to him, digitalization makes it possible to identify weaknesses in the system and create transparent analytics.
— Digital tools are the foundation. Without translating data into software code and eliminating the human factor, we will not be able to accurately understand the volume of waste and transfer this information to business,” he noted.
In his opinion, the digital platform is of particular importance for attracting investment and developing processing.
— Businesses need specific numbers – how much raw material they will receive, and whether it makes sense to open an enterprise. All this will be provided through a digital waste management platform,” he explained.
In addition, the system will allow building a stable supply chain of waste to recyclers.
— We must be responsible for the raw materials that the entrepreneur receives. Digital tools will help waste generators find carriers and processors, and businesses will understand that they will receive the necessary raw materials,” Baygaraev added.
He also noted that a culture of separate waste collection is already being formed in the capital.
— Today in Astana there are yellow and green containers, divided into dry and wet fractions. If earlier this raised questions, now residents are beginning to understand the principles of sorting,” he said.
In the future, in his opinion, environmental behavior will become the norm.
— Now it looks like an infrastructure project. But in five years it will be a shame to throw waste away in the wrong place,” concluded Daniyar Baygaraev.
Experts believe that scaling up the capital’s experience will significantly improve the efficiency of the entire waste management system in the country.\
It was previously reported ready whether Kazakhstan is moving towards digital reform and a green economy.
