    The report of an alleged sexual violation against a 16-year-old student Almirante Guise Naval High Schoolin San Borja, once again puts under attention the sexual violence what happens among the schoolchildren themselves. The Public Ministry initiated a preliminary investigation involving ten adolescents who are in their fifth year of secondary school at the same educational institution.

    According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 15, inside a vehicle that was transporting a delegation of students after participating in a sports competition.     The Seventh Family Prosecutor’s Office of Lima Centro took over the investigations and arranged proceedings to clarify the case. Among the actions are the interview of the alleged victim in Cámara Gesell and the statements of the teenagers involved.

    The case is known in a context in which reports of sexual violence between students maintain an important presence within the educational system. An analysis of the database of the Specialized System for Attention to Cases of School Violence (SISEVE) carried out by El Comercio shows that, between January 1 and August 31, 2026, there were registered 1,183 reports of sexual violence among primary and secondary school students throughout the country.

    The largest amount corresponds to the secondary level. Of the 1,183 records identified, 848 were reported in secondary school and 335 in primary school. That is, approximately seven out of every ten reports correspond to high school students.

    Within the universe of reports of sexual violence among students, 77 records were specifically classified as sexual violation between January and August 2026. Most of it corresponds to the secondary level: 58 reportsin front of 19 registered in primary.

    The SíseVe information allows us to distinguish other forms of sexual violence. The largest group corresponds to touching, acts of sexual connotation or libidinous actswith 956 reports in the first eight months of the year. Of them, 657 correspond to secondary school and 299 to primary school.

    This category represents the 80.8% of the 1,183 reports of sexual violence among schoolchildren at both educational levels recorded during the analyzed period.

    Added to this are 91 reports of sexual harassmentof which 78 correspond to secondary school and 13 to primary school. They were also counted 59 reports of sexual harassment through technological means: 55 in secondary school and four in primary school.

    Taken together, the figures show a marked concentration of reports of sexual violence among secondary school students: 848 of the 1,183 recordsequivalent to 71.7%.

    The records from the previous two years show that sexual violence among schoolchildren is not a phenomenon limited to 2026. In In 2024, 1,745 reports were recorded of this type in primary and secondary, while in 2025 there were 1,697.

    In 2024, 1,128 reports corresponded to secondary school and 617 to primary school. A year later, secondary school concentrated 1,125 registrations and primary school, 572.

    Touching and other acts of sexual connotation were also the predominant category: 1,291 reports in 2024 and 1,277 in 2025. Regarding the records specifically classified as sexual violation, the system counted 185 in 2024 and 181 in 2025.

    The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations has a series of services available to everyone aimed at addressing cases of violence. Among them are:

It provides information, guidance, counseling and emotional support in Quechua, Aymara and Spanish for people affected by acts of violence against women and members of the family group or who know of a case.

    Through this chat you will receive online guidance, in real time and uninterrupted, on the prevention of violence in relationships of love, dating and/or couples; in addition to providing guidance and/or information to people who report or know of any incident of violence against women and members of the family group and/or sexual violence. It can be accessed from the link https://chat100.warminan.gob.pe/ Its scope is nationwide, it is confidential and it is available 24 hours a day.

    They are specialized and free public services, with comprehensive and multidisciplinary care, for victims of violence against women and members of the family group and people affected by sexual violence. It allows access to legal advice, emotional support and social support at the national level. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
