MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Major cities in Belarus’ Brest Oblast have signed cooperation agreements with several Russian regions. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 25 June, BelTA has learned.
Baranovichi concluded an agreement on establishing friendly relations with the Balakovsky Municipal District of Saratov Oblast. “This is another important step in developing cooperation between our regions. We have a great deal in common – industry, the food sector, and cultural ties. Today’s signing is just the beginning of our long joint journey,” said Baranovichi Mayor Maksim Antonyuk.
Pinsk also gained a new partner in Russia, signing an agreement on friendly relations with the Volsky Municipal District of Saratov Oblast. “The Forum of Regions has long proven itself as an effective platform for finding new partners, implementing joint initiatives, and strengthening friendly ties between our peoples. The signing of this agreement will be an important step in the development of interregional cooperation and will take our relations to a qualitatively new level,” said Pinsk Mayor Valery Rebkovets. Pinsk is interested in expanding cooperation in the economic sector, as well as exchanging experience in utilities services, education, culture, sports, and youth policy.
A number of agreements were also reached between parliamentary bodies today. Cooperation agreements were signed between the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies and the legislative assemblies of Kirov Oblast and Vladimir Oblast, as well as with the Sakhalin Oblast Duma. On Belarus’ part, the documents were signed by Marina Kovalevskaya, Chairperson of the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies.
On the sidelines of the Forum of Regions, representatives of Brest Oblast are planning to sign several more bilateral documents.
