Nikolić crossed the border in 10 minutes: There was no crowd for them, they found out why

Kilometer-long queues and hours-long waits on the way to Greece these days turn the beginning of vacation into real hell for many tourists.

Detention lasts longer than three hours

At the busiest border crossing Evzones, detentions last longer than three hours, and the use of the EES system (Entry/Exit System), a new system for recording entries and exits from the European Union, causes additional concern.

The experience of a Serbian family

However, the experience of a Serbian family showed that there is currently only one way to avoid crowds and save your nerves, traveling during the night.

Ivan Nikolić went with his family to the Greek resort of Platamon late in the evening and avoided everything that awaited thousands of tourists during the day.

    Avoid the crowds

“We left late to avoid crowds. At the border with North Macedonia, we waited for about 20 minutes, while at the border with Greece, around two hours after midnight, there were only five vehicles in front of us. Everything went very quickly and we did not regret leaving at that time of night,” Ivan told RINA.

He adds that precisely because of the announcements about the EES system, they expected additional controls and detentions, but that they did not happen.

“Thank you for that, we didn’t go through additional checks even though we were traveling with a four-year-old child and a ten-month-old baby. We got to Platamon in just seven hours after turning on the highway near Kraljevo,” says Ivan.

While they crossed the border practically without waiting, during the day on Evzonia, kilometer-long queues are formed in which drivers waste hours. Precisely because of this, travelers who are heading to Greece in the coming days are increasingly choosing to depart after midnight, because this is currently the only way to avoid the crowds that can turn a trip to the sea into a real hell, reports Telegraf.rs.
