The Fire Department confirmed this Wednesday night the full recovery of the three victims after the collapse registered in the vicinity of the peripheral ring, after intense rescue efforts in Tegucigalpa, central area of Honduras.
The Fire Department reported through its social networks that, after almost 40 hours of uninterrupted work, the recovery of the citizen’s body was achieved. Karen Dinora Girón Ordoñezwho lost his life after the collapse that occurred adjacent to the peripheral ring.
According to the official statement, this discovery completes the recovery of the three victims who were buried after the incident, which mobilized rescue teams, emergency personnel and specialized units in the affected area.
The authorities detailed that the work was carried out continuously in complex conditions, due to the instability of the terrain, which prolonged the search operations until the last victim was located.
Rescue of the bodies
According to reports from the Fire Department, the three people were buried in the offices of a warehouse of about 80 square meters, of a company whose facility was impacted by the collapse of a hill, for reasons that are being investigated.
More than twenty people managed to leave the site alive, while others were rescued a few hours after the collapse with the help of members of the Fire Department using ropes and ladders.
This Wednesday afternoon the second body of accountant Félix Núñez was recovered. The first victim was identified on Tuesday night as Claudia Suyapa Garay, 46, who worked as a cleaner at the facilities.
