He Government of Panama announced this Thursday the sending to Venezuela of a team of rescuers to support the search for survivors of the two earthquakes that devastated the country on Wednesday, leaving at least 164 dead and 971 injured, according to the first official report.
“I have instructed the sending of a mission of rescuers and Sinaproc personnel to Venezuela in order to collaborate in rescue and rescue missions. We hope that the effects of this tragedy will soon be stabilized,” wrote the Panamanian president, José Raúl Mulino, on his X account.
Last night, a few hours after the “seismic double”, an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and another of 7.5 recorded just 39 seconds apart, shook the Caribbean coast of Venezuela, Mulino had expressed the “greatest solidarity and support to Venezuela” and offered “his humanitarian aid.”
El Salvador and Dominican Republic They have also announced the sending of rescue personnel to Venezuela, while the United States is deploying search and rescue teams in the country, as announced by the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, this Thursday.
The president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguezhas said that La Guaira, a northern coastal state neighboring Caracas and where the country’s main airport is located, is the most affected and indicated that it has been declared a “natural disaster zone due to the number of buildings that collapsed”, the number of which was not immediately specified.
Also in Caracasthe capital, some buildings fell, while the level of damage in the interior of the South American country is not clear.
