KOTA KINABALU (April 22): United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has resigned as deputy chairman of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and from all government-related positions.
The resignation was formally conveyed during a meeting with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, who is also GRS chairman, on April 21.
Usno’s Supreme Executive Council (AMET) unanimously endorsed the decision during a meeting today, where it also agreed that the party would withdraw from the GRS coalition.
Among the reasons cited for Usno’s decision was a lack of alignment in administrative and government policy matters, particularly following the 17th Sabah State Election.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to remain grounded in championing the interests of Sabah’s indigenous communities while continuing to play a check-and-balance role.
Usno expressed appreciation to the GRS chairman and all component parties for their previous cooperation, and pledged to continue advocating for the aspirations of marginalised communities.
