Tajik political scientist Abdugani Mamadazimov considers Asia-Plus one of the main media that shapes public opinion in Tajikistan. According to him, the publication not only identifies current problems of society and covers them, but also helps to find ways to solve them.
In an interview dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Asia-Plus media group, the expert called the agency “the favorite media in Tajikistan” and emphasized the importance of its work for the country’s information space.
“I am glad that in independent Tajikistan there is such an independent media that is capable of providing a high-quality information space for the country,” Mamadazimov noted.
According to him, over three decades, Asia-Plus has managed to establish itself as a publication that raises the most pressing issues – from environmental problems to the lives of various social groups.
“Today Asia-Plus is a powerful platform influencing the formation of public opinion. The agency is able to identify the most important topics and propose them for public discussion. Being inside the country, we sometimes do not notice the significance of this work. But when we find ourselves outside of it, we understand how often we turn to Asia-Plus publications to receive information about what is happening in Tajikistan,” says the political scientist.
He noted that Asia-Plus materials are distinguished by their depth and analytical approach. According to Mamadazimov, the publication’s journalists strive to understand the essence of ongoing processes, and are not limited to superficial coverage of events.
He recalled that over the years of work the agency has become a real school of journalism. Many journalists who worked for Asia-Plus subsequently created their own media, and former employees of the publication today successfully work in different countries of the world.
The political scientist believes that one of the promising areas of development for the media group could be strengthening investigative journalism. “In Tajikistan, this genre is still underdeveloped. If Asia-Plus works more actively in this direction, this will benefit both the publication itself and the development of the country. There are enough topics for investigations and in-depth analysis,” he emphasized.
Congratulating the media group’s team on its 30th anniversary, Mamadazimov noted that this anniversary symbolizes a generational change in the editorial office.
“Thirty years is a whole era for one generation. The first generation of Asia-Plus journalists did a great job. Today, the second generation is coming to the editorial office – young journalists who are gradually taking their place and continuing the traditions of the publication,” he said.
The expert expressed hope that the agency’s history will not be limited to one or two generations of journalists.
“I wish that the best experience and achievements of Asia-Plus will be passed on to the next generations. Even after a hundred years, in the era of the Internet and artificial intelligence, the principles and position of the publication are preserved, and the agency itself continues to play an important role in the social and political life of Tajikistan,” concluded Mamadazimov.
