A new rule has been introduced in Tajikistan, according to which all employers are required to organize daily physical exercise for employees lasting at least 20 minutes.
Corresponding changes have been made to the Health Code of Tajikistan. The law was adopted by the Majlisi Namoyandagon on June 10 and signed by the country’s president on June 17.
As Minister of Justice Muzaffar Ashurien explained, the innovation was developed on the basis of a presidential decree of February 14, 2026 and is aimed at preventing obesity, diabetes and improving public health.
According to him, the requirement applies to all organizations regardless of their form of ownership.
“Employers and officials are obliged to conduct regular physical exercise for at least 20 minutes a day,” the minister noted.
In addition, organizational leaders should create conditions for sports and take part in physical activity themselves.
Previously, morning exercises were carried out in selected public and private institutions on a voluntary basis.

Then, in the country, employees of all government departments, institutions and organizations required to participate in morning exercises on Saturdays.
All civil servants, without exception, were required to participate in it.
A schedule was drawn up according to which departments conducted Saturday exercises. The places where each department was supposed to do physical exercises were also identified.
The exercises started at seven in the morning and lasted about half an hour.
