Cyprus is among the member states of the European Union with the highest usage rates social media from businesses, according to data published on Friday by Eurostat.
Almost eight out of ten businesses in Cyprus with 10 or more employees were using social media in 2025, with the percentage standing at 79.9%.
The rate was unchanged from 2023, but remains significantly higher than the European Union average, which reached 63.6% in 2025, up from 61.1% in 2023.
According to Eurostat, social media are used by businesses to enhance their online presence, improve their marketing activities and communicate with customers, partners and other organizations.
At the same time, they are used to facilitate collaboration and the exchange of knowledge.
A first for Malta
The highest percentage of businesses using social media in the EU was recorded by Maltawith 88.2%.
Finland followed with 87.6% and Denmark with 86.1%, confirming the great penetration of digital tools in the businesses of these countries.
On the contrary, the lowest percentages were recorded in Bulgaria with 41.5%, in Croatia with 46.0% and in Hungary with 47.3%.
Usage increases as the business grows
Eurostat points out that the use of social networks increases according to the size of the business.
At EU level, 60.6% of small businesses used social media in 2025.
The corresponding percentage increased to 76.2% for medium-sized enterprises and to 89.1% for large enterprises.
The data shows that Cyprus remains high in the European rankings for the use of social media by businesses, performing significantly higher than the EU average.
