The government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Health, adopted the information on establishing a Center for emergency medical assistance in Skopje, with the aim of improving the system for emergency medical response, faster interventions and more efficient saving of human lives.
According to the Ministry of Health, the reform envisages the separation of the Emergency Medical Service as an independent institution, which should enable greater organizational and operational independence.
The Minister of Health, Azir Aliu, pointed out that this is a significant systemic change that will enable more efficient management of resources, special budget planning and faster decision-making.
– The establishment of an independent center for emergency medical assistance will allow a better response to emergency calls and a more efficient use of resources. We are not creating a new system, but we are modernizing and institutionally strengthening the existing organization – said Aliu.
In the first phase of the reform, it is planned that the Emergency Medical Service – Skopje will function as a separate institution, after which other services will gradually be integrated within the framework of the future center.
The Ministry states that the model is based on positive experiences from countries in the region, where emergency medical assistance functions as an independent institutional structure. According to them, this approach enables better coordination of teams, more efficient use of resources and establishment of unique standards for work and professional development.
It is expected that the new center will contribute to overcoming the long-standing personnel and organizational challenges, which will ensure a better quality and more efficient service for the citizens.
