In a statement today, Thursday, Civil Protection called for caution and following preventive measures to avoid the expected heat wave in several states of the country on Friday and Saturday.
The same source explained, “Due to the expected rise in temperatures at the end of the week, which will affect the central and eastern coastal states of the country, as well as the states of Relizane, Ain Defla and Chlef, on Friday and Saturday, June 19 and 20, 2026, the General Directorate of Civil Protection recommends that one exercise caution and follow preventive measures to avoid dangers related to the heat wave and how to deal with such weather conditions.”
In this context, the same departments urged “not to be exposed to the sun’s rays, especially for elderly people, those with chronic diseases, and children, to avoid going out and moving around during this period, except in cases of necessity, while staying under the shade as much as possible and creating an air current throughout the building as soon as the outside temperature is lower than the inside temperature.”
She also stressed “the necessity of closing windows, curtains, and balcony facades that are exposed to sunlight throughout the day, turning off electric lights or reducing their use, wearing a hat and light clothes, not leaving children alone in the car, avoiding work that requires physical effort, and drinking water regularly.”
For car drivers whose car does not have air conditioning, it is advisable – the statement adds – “to avoid traveling long distances during times of heat,” “it is preferable to avoid swimming in bodies of water and on forbidden beaches,” and “it is prohibited to cause any fire to break out in forest areas.”
Civil Protection reported the green number 1021 and the emergency number 14, which are at the disposal of citizens, to report any danger.
