Trump proposed building a huge triumphal arch 76 meters high in honor of the 150th anniversary of US independence, modeled on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which is 49 meters high. The project would be the tallest triumphal arch in the world—twice as tall as the Lincoln Memorial and nearly as tall as the Capitol.
Its estimated height raises questions, given its proximity to Ronald Reagan National Airport, writes NBC News.
Trump’s arch will feature eagles, the Statue of Liberty and a quote from the Pledge of Allegiance.
On Thursday, members of the US Commission of Fine Arts asked architect Nicolas Charbonneau to make some changes to the details of the structure and prepare a “second version” of the project.
The US President also proposed painting the Eisenhower Administration Building white, changing its classic stone façade, and building a “National Garden of America’s Heroes” on the banks of the Potomac.
Earlier it was reported that Trump began construction ballroom at the White House.
