Today, more than 10,000 fans of the famous Italian scooter “vespa” took part in a festive ride through the streets of Rome on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the creation of the most famous scooter.
Participants from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia passed by Rome’s greatest landmarks, including the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, celebrating the brand that has become one of the symbols of Italian design and lifestyle.
“The passion for Vespa is the passion for Italian style, freedom, the sixties,” said Nathalie Dinan, a pensioner from France.
The first Vespa was made in 1946 by the Italian company “Piađo”, which after the Second World War, instead of producing airplanes, which was forbidden to it, started producing scooters.
Thanks to its design and simplicity, the vespa quickly gained worldwide popularity.
Her popularity further increased after appearing in the 1953 movie “Holiday in Rome,” starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.
According to Piaggio, 20 million Vespas have been sold in 110 countries around the world.
