Police searched the home of a skateboarding instructor in Taitung County’s Donghe Township (東河) earlier this month after he allegedly used posters referencing drugs such as cannabis and LSD to recruit students for classes.
The instructor, surnamed Hsiang (向), put up posters in Donghe’s Dulan Village (都蘭) to recruit people for skateboarding lessons held at an elementary school.
The posters included references to drugs including THC, CBD, LSD, MDMA and mushrooms, which parents and police noticed, suspecting the instructor was using drugs to attract elementary-school students.

After identifying the suspect and gathering evidence, police apprehended Hsiang and searched his residence in Dulan, finding promotional posters and seizing evidence including a pipe allegedly containing traces of marijuana, a Category 2 narcotic.
Hsiang was allowed to leave after questioning as he was not caught in the act, and police said they would continue investigating the case under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act (毒品危害防制條) and trace the source of the drugs.
Inducing another person to use a Category 2 narcotic is punishable by one to seven years in prison and a fine of up to NT$1 million (US$31,387), police said.
They said they would continue cracking down on drugs and cutting off drug supply chains to prevent them from infiltrating communities and schools, protecting the physical and mental well-being of residents and students, and curbing drug-impaired driving.
