The Directorate Support Apparatus for Regional Security Directorates announced the arrest of several suspects in connection with the alleged luring of a Libyan woman to a location where she was detained for several hours, verbally and physically assaulted, threatened, filmed, and robbed of personal belongings and her vehicle.
The agency said a complaint had been filed reporting that the woman was forcibly detained, assaulted, deprived of her mobile phones for inspection, and that some of her personal photographs had been shared. The suspects also allegedly seized her vehicle and drove it around for several hours. One of the individuals present was further accused of harassing her.
According to the agency, investigators immediately launched inquiries upon receiving the report and, through surveillance and information-gathering operations, arrested the main suspect and her sister, both foreign nationals, as well as another individual suspected of involvement in the incident.
The agency added that a separate operation resulted in the arrest of two additional women. One of them was reportedly wanted in connection with another criminal case involving the killing of citizen Zakaria Al-Marghani, whose body had previously been discovered in a cemetery in the Abu Salim area. Authorities said further details on that case would be announced later.
Another foreign woman was summoned and subsequently turned herself in, after which investigators completed the necessary procedures. The agency confirmed that all suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
It added that the involvement of several foreign nationals in the case highlights the seriousness of certain criminal activities that violate the law and stressed the need to deal firmly with anyone who threatens public safety or violates citizens’ rights.
