In the indictment provided by KOHA, details of how the crime took place are shown
Five former members of the Serbian Police are accused of executing five Albanian civilians, members of a family, on May 6, 1999.
Based on the indictment provided by KOHA, Predrag Nikolić, Zoran Deletović, Ivan Ivanov, Sinisha Milanović and Jovica Denić forcibly took the civilians to the “Beopetrol” fuel pump, on the Pristina-Fushë-Kosovo road, and then put them in the official car of the police station in Fushë Kosovë.
“They order them to get into the police car, under the pretext of sending them to the train station in Fushë-Kosovo, and when they reach the crossroads of Fushë Kosovë, they turn to the left side and continue the road in the direction of the village of Slatinë, in the village of Vragoli they pass through the checkpoint of the police and the Serbian army, but they are not stopped by them and continue on the way to the villages of Dobrevë-Batushë-Lepinë, and upon reaching the place of called “Megja”, they stop the vehicle and order the victims to get out”, the indictment of the Special Prosecutor’s Office states.
According to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, which on Monday requested a trial in absentia for the defendants, after the victims got out of the car, Predrag Nikolic ordered them to lie face down on the ground, and then they were shot. The indictment states that Milanovic and Deniqi were present during the murder.
“The defendant Zoran Deletović had shot with a Crvena Zastava M70AB2 automatic weapon with serial number 62915 even after the execution-murder of the victims, while the defendants Sinisha Milanović and Jovica Denić had been present at the place where the murders were committed all the time, as they contributed by helping the other defendants in the commission of the murders,” the indictment states.
The indictment also describes the attempt to hide traces of the crime.
“After that, the defendants enter their vehicle, continue the road in the direction of Lipjan-Prishtina, and on the way, the defendant Predrag Nikolic gives the documents of the victims to the defendant Ivan Ivanov with the instruction to burn them and finally return to the police station in Fushë Kosovë and hand over the change”, the indictment states further.
For the five defendants, the Special Prosecutor’s Office on Monday filed an indictment in absentia, and requested a trial in absentia, since, according to the indictment, the defendants are inaccessible to the justice authorities.
