The world-famous Albanian singer, Dua Lipa, is reported to have donated around 5,000 pounds (5,700 euros) to the residents of a neighborhood in Palermo, after the backlash caused by the organization of her wedding celebrations with actor Callum Turner.
According to The Sun, several public spaces in the Italian city were reserved for the couple’s festive activities, bringing temporary traffic and parking restrictions for area residents.
The dissatisfaction of some citizens was also shown through protest posters placed near the places where the celebrations were taking place. They contained messages opposing the use of public squares for private events. The posters were later removed by local authorities.
To show gratitude to the community and to alleviate the grievances created, Dua Lipa is said to have contributed about 5 thousand pounds to the residents of the area.
The artist’s wedding celebrations were held in Siciqi and gathered many well-known names from the world of music, film and showbiz.
Lipa and Turner were crowned in London on May 31.
