Prague (Czech Republic), 2 June 2026 (SPS) – The World Peace Council (WPC) has called for an end to Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara and to allow the Sahrawi people to exercise its inalienable right to freedom and self-determination.
In a resolution following its secretariat meeting on May 10, in Prague, Czech Republic, WPC stressed that the World Peace Council adds its voice to that of the Saharawi people in demanding concrete actions to end this oppressive regime, so that the Saharawis can finally exercise their self-determination.
It recalled that the Saharawi people and its legitimate representative, the POLISARIO Front, continue struggling for liberation, resisting both the occupier and its partners, and setting an example for humanity in the process of strengthening the process of liberation.
In this regard, it saluted the Saharawis for the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic on February 27, 1976, which is a founding member of the African Union, and urged all peace-loving peoples and states to continue working for its recognition, independence, and sovereignty.
Finally, it appealed to the international community to assume its responsibility towards the Sahrawi issue as a non-negotiable issue of decolonization to which all states have a duty and that must be concluded.
