Work begins on the 10-kilometer Skopje-Bllacë highway, expected to be completed in 2030

Construction works have begun on the second segment of the 10 km project of the Skopje-Bllacë Highway.
The heavy machines of the winning company of this tender have landed on the field and the works have started.
The project foresees 5 tunnels on both sides, 8 bridges, 11 underpasses, 4 galleries, 9 lateral retaining walls or about 40 objects, as the builders call them. The deadline for the construction of this road is for 4 years. The expropriation phase has been solved by over 65% and will not be an obstacle like in other projects. These works started exactly two months after the foundation stone was laid.
For the investment of the second segment Skopje-Blacë, loans of 167.6 million euros were received from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, while the grant from the EU framework for the Western Balkans of 30.82 million euros and the remaining part of 23.58 million euros is financed from the budget of the NP “State Roads”.
The design alone cost 3.1 million euros, money provided by grants, for the designers S.A. “Omega” and “Hill International”. The highway has two driving lanes in both directions, each with a width of 3.5 m. and from an emergency lane of 2.5 m. The deputy director of this institution said that the delay of two months from the laying of the foundation stone was for a reason.
The company that will build the 10.5 km segment of the highway is “Granit”, which has signed the contract with the state and which today started the field work and will cost 222 million euros along with five years of maintenance after the inauguration of the road, which is expected to take place in the summer of 2030. We recall that the first 2 km segment of the Skopje-Bllaca highway was delayed over the years during construction and also remained a dead end./RTV21/
