Ministry of the Interior intervenes and signs agreement with the ATV of Samborondón: Police will take charge of the monitoring center

The number of uniformed personnel increased from 90 to 130 agents intended for control and surveillance tasks.

With these actions, patrols were also reinforced in sectors identified as strategic.

Galo Andradepolice chief of the Samborondón district, indicated that operations have been intensified in La Puntilla, the cantonal capital, and Tarifa, the latter divided into two zones to optimize response times.

The objective is to maintain greater control in these sectors and carry out operations more frequently aimed at citizens.

“It does not mean that the criminal activity has increased in Samborondón, but we have tried to provide a better service to have better operational coverage,” the officer explained.

Identified problems and crimes to combat

He explained that one of the problems identified focuses on the North Alternate Bridge and on the highway through the Río Seco sector, roads that connect Samborondón with other cantons of Guayas.

According to Andrade, these routes would be used by antisocials to get around; Even if the crimes were not committed in the canton, the bodies would be abandoned within this jurisdiction.

Regarding other criminal acts, he pointed out that they also seek to combat theft of vehicle accessories in sectors such as Bicentenario Park and Plaza Batán.

For this reason, police presence has been intensified, especially during times when citizens park their cars to carry out physical activities.

In that sense, the police chief added that multidisciplinary operations with the aim of comprehensively reducing different crimes.

In these controls, he indicated, arrests have been recorded for illegal possession of firearms and for sale of substances subject to control.

Police control from the monitoring center

Another of the actions implemented in the canton was launched last March 20when authorities from the Ministry of the Interior and the Traffic and Surveillance Authority (ATV), attached to the Municipality of Samborondón, signed a cooperation agreement that allows the Police to assume control of the monitoring center.

During the intervention in the monitoring room, the Minister of the Interior, John Reimbergindicated that this decision is part of the actions to confront criminal structures that use strategic means in the sector.

In this regard, Galo Andrade, police chief of Samborondón, indicated that fourteen officers They operate within the surveillance rooms, distributed in three shifts to guarantee permanent coverage 24 hours a day.

He explained that this system is key, since it allows access to technological tools in coordination with the Municipality, such as alarms in urbanizations, vehicle license plate identification and facial recognition.

From these rooms, the uniformed officers maintain direct contact with the agents in the territory, to whom they immediately report news for the mobilization of police units, with the aim of reducing response times.

Andrade pointed out that within a period of 30 daysAfter the signing of the agreement, it is planned to present results on the effectiveness of this model. (YO)
