Sleep is one of God’s universal signs, as God Almighty said: (And among His signs is your sleeping by night and by day, and your seeking of His bounty. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who listen), and sleep at night is the origin. And daytime sleep is a branch, and God Almighty made the day for work and spreading out in seeking sustenance, and He made the night for rest, and at night there is sleep, and in the day there is work. God Almighty said: (And it is He who made the night a covering for you and sleep a rest and made the day a resting place.)
And God Almighty said: (Have they not seen that We have made the night for them to rest therein, and the day for giving insight? Indeed, in that are signs for a people who believe.) And God Almighty said: (And We made Your sleep is a rest, and We made the night a covering and made the day a livelihood.
Imam Ibn Katheer – may God have mercy on him – said: That is: Among the verses is that the characteristic of sleep has been given to you at night and during the day, in which you obtain rest and stillness of movement, and the disappearance of fatigue and fatigue, and He has made spreading out and striving for paths and travels during the day, and this is the opposite of sleep.
Whoever says when he goes to bed: (There is no god but God alone, with no partner. To Him belongs dominion, and to Him is praise, and He is capable of all things. There is no power or strength except in God, the Most High, the Great. Glory be to God, and praise be to God. There is no god but God, and God is great.) His sins will be forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea.

I seek refuge in You from the evil of every evil that you take by the forelock. You are the first, and there is nothing before you, and you are the last.” There is nothing after you, and you are the apparent, so nothing is above you, and you are the hidden, so nothing is below you. Pay off our debt, and enrich me from poverty.” In Abu Dawud’s narration: “Recover my debt and free me from poverty.”
