Jaipaul replace Seales for Volcanoes match tomorrow

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Red Force team has made a key change to its squad ahead of its fi­nal four-day match of the sea­son against the Lee­ward Is­lands Vol­canes on Sun­day at the An­tigua Recre­ation Ground (ARG), a venue renowned as a bat­ting par­adise, which promis­es a chal­leng­ing con­test for the bowlers.

Left-arm spin­ner Ricky Jaipaul of Bess Mo­tors Marchin’ Pa­tri­ots has joined the squad to re­place pac­er Jay­den Seales, with Crick­et West In­dies’ work­load man­age­ment pol­i­cy cit­ed as the rea­son for his in­clu­sion.

Jaipaul’s in­clu­sion strength­ens the Red Force spin at­tack, join­ing fel­low spin­ners Khary Pierre, Bri­an Charles, and Yan­nic Cari­ah in the team. The up­com­ing match is sched­uled to be­gin.

Jaipaul is joint lead­ing wick­et-tak­er with Bryan Charles with 48 wick­ets in the T&T Crick­et Board Pre­mier­ship Di­vi­sion I League com­pe­ti­tion; so far he has 15 in the 50 Overs com­pe­ti­tion, and in the 30 Overs tour­na­ment he has 11, one shy of Charles, who leads with 12 wick­ets.

Red Force head coach Reyad Em­rit con­firmed that the team will be lodg­ing an of­fi­cial com­plaint with Crick­et West In­dies re­gard­ing the aban­doned match that con­clud­ed pre­ma­ture­ly on Tues­day. The aban­don­ment has stirred frus­tra­tions with­in the team, who be­lieve the is­sues sur­round­ing the fix­ture war­rant for­mal at­ten­tion.

Cur­rent­ly, the Re­gion­al Four-Day Cham­pi­onship points ta­ble sees Guyana lead­ing with 43.2 points, hold­ing a com­fort­able mar­gin over the Red Force, who sit in sec­ond place with 37 points. Ja­maica fol­lows close­ly in third with 29.6 points, while Bar­ba­dos holds the fourth place with 19.8 points.

The fi­nal match at the ARG will be crit­i­cal for the Red Force as they aim to close the gap on Guyana and main­tain their po­si­tion in the race for the cham­pi­onship ti­tle. With the pitch ex­pect­ed to favour the bats­men, bowlers will need to adapt quick­ly to make an im­pact.

The Red Force will be look­ing to build mo­men­tum and fin­ish the sea­son strong­ly as they pre­pare to face the Lee­ward Is­lands Vol­canes in what promis­es to be an ex­cit­ing clash at one of the Caribbean’s most his­toric grounds.
