An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the draft understanding between Tehran and Washington to end the war awaits the final decision from the highest institutions in Iran.

The official IRNA news agency announced today (Friday) that the general features and semi-final text of the understanding to end the war between Iran and the United States are almost ready, after about a month and a half of exchanging letters between the two parties.
She added that the text “has undergone numerous amendments during the recent period,” but the basic structure of the understanding between Tehran and Washington “was prepared within a framework that takes into account Iranian national interests and red lines,” according to him.
The agency considered that “contrary to what was reported during the past weeks of criticism or skepticism from some political parties, the text of the understanding was prepared with great precision and caution, to avoid any differing interpretations or renunciation of obligations by the other party.”
The agreement includes 14 clauses
For its part, the Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that the memorandum of understanding to end the war includes 14 items, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz, canceling US sanctions on Iranian oil, and releasing frozen Iranian funds.
She added that the United States will withdraw its forces from the vicinity of Iran, according to the agreement, and will also lift the blockade imposed on Iranian ports. She explained that the scheduled negotiations with Washington, after the ceasefire, according to the memorandum, will focus on nuclear and economic issues, and will exclude discussions about the Iranian missile program.
The terms of the “memorandum of understanding” to end the war included: ending hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, for a period of 60 days, Iranian pledges not to possess or purchase any nuclear weapons, holding nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran within 60 days regarding Iranian enriched uranium, reopening a strait immediately after signing the agreement without any Iranian fees for crossing, returning shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within 30 days of signing the agreement, ending the American blockade on Iranian ports during the ceasefire period (60 days) gradually, temporary US exemptions allowing the sale of Iranian oil during the 60-day period, and the sanctions imposed on Iran to be gradually lifted based on the extent of its commitment to the agreement.
The G7 summit is held
Bloomberg quoted senior officials as saying that the United States and Iran are close to signing an agreement, which includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, in conjunction with the G7 summit next week.
A senior Iranian official indicated overnight that the chances of reaching an agreement were high, a G7 official said, adding that the agreement might come in the form of a memorandum of understanding, not a final agreement.
The G7 summit will be held in the French city of Evian between June 15 and 17, while the Swiss city of Geneva is being discussed as a possible site for signing the agreement, starting next Sunday, according to people familiar with the plan.
Iran has not yet confirmed its presence
The official warned that Iran has not yet confirmed its readiness to attend a signing ceremony, noting that communications between Tehran and Washington have remained slow since the outbreak of war in February.
While another G7 official spoke about the presence of indications that the signing was approaching, but he warned that similar diplomatic progress had not been completed in previous times.
For his part, a well-informed diplomat said that Iranian negotiators agreed to the agreement, but it is not clear whether Iranian Leader Mojtaba Khamenei gave his final approval, as he is the final decision maker in foreign policy and security issues.
