In less than 12 hours, Dubai Police were able to arrest a gang of 8 people, including a woman impersonating a princess, after they carried out the theft of a luxury oud worth 12 million dirhams.
The details of the case began when two members of the gang went to a shop selling oud, and the two of them convinced the merchant that there was a prominent princess coming to Dubai who wanted to buy a luxurious oud.
Days later, the merchant saved the amount and contacted the gang members and asked to meet the alleged princess. The gang prepared a modern villa, placed bodyguards, and gave the merchant a gracious reception, who showed them the precious oud he had brought in his luggage.
Then the gang members asked the merchant to wait until the oud was taken out and returned to its original bags. They put ordinary wood in the merchant’s bags instead of the oud and handed it to him.
The next day, the merchant tried to contact them, but the phones were off. He opened the bags and was shocked after the precious oud was stolen.
The merchant filed a report with Dubai Police, and after 12 hours they were able to arrest four of those involved and recover the valuable oud.
Dubai Police issued a red notice for the other four, including the woman impersonating the princess, after identifying their identities.
