Ambassador Ammar Benjamea, Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations in New York, was elected on Thursday, unanimously by member states, as President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, for the 2027 session.
Bin Jammeh will succeed Nepali diplomat Lok Bahadur Thapa as head of the council. Which was established in 1946, to be one of the six main organs of the United Nations.
