Due to strong winds in Nuuk, all domestic and international flights to and from Nuuk are canceled for the rest of the day. Due to full hotels in Nuuk, passengers cannot be offered overnight accommodation.
Earlier today the Atlantic airliner Tuukkaq tried to land in Nuuk. But without success. Tuukkaq has now turned around and is now on its way to Keflavik to refuel and then fly on to Copenhagen.
– We are now working on putting together a new program for the travelers affected. It will take time, as all travel plans will have to be rescheduled. We therefore ask affected travelers to wait for new information. Unfortunately, the Call Center cannot help with alternative seats, writes Air Greenland on their website.
No possibility of overnight accommodation
There are no available hotel rooms in Nuuk, which means that the travelers stranded in Nuuk cannot be offered accommodation by Air Greenland.
– Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing challenges in finding available hotel rooms for travelers whose journey is interrupted in Nuuk. This means that we unfortunately cannot offer accommodation to affected travellers.
– The limited hotel capacity in Nuuk is beyond Air Greenland’s control, and our station staff help as best as possible within the possibilities that are available, it says.
Also few places in Ilulissat
Air Greenland further informs that there is limited hotel capacity in Ilulissat.
– There is also limited hotel capacity in Ilulissat, and therefore we cannot provide hotel rooms for all affected travelers. We must therefore ask you to find accommodation yourself, writes the airline.
Air Greenland states that travelers who are stranded in Ilulissat can pick up meal tickets at Ilulissat’s airport.
