US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Iran is showing a desire to negotiate and reach an agreement with the United States, stressing that the course of the talks is achieving “very good results” and is proceeding “quite smoothly.”
Trump said, during an event at the White House, that Washington is dealing with parties that “strongly desire to conclude an agreement,” adding that the coming days will determine whether it is possible to reach an agreement that meets the aspirations of the United States.
In a related context, Trump indicated that his country is seeking to obtain enriched uranium from Iran, as part of efforts aimed at ending the escalation and ensuring that Tehran does not possess a nuclear weapon, saying: “We will get it.”
According to the data, Iran has not yet delivered more than 408 kilograms of highly enriched uranium, at a time when it is continuing to study a new American proposal, amid reports that the two sides are close to reaching a preliminary memorandum of understanding that may pave the way for an end to the tension, while postponing the controversial issues, most notably the nuclear program.
For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the existence of full coordination with Washington, announcing his intention to hold talks with Trump later today. He stressed that the common goal is to remove all enriched materials from Iran and dismantle its enrichment capabilities.
