Trump has denied that the moratorium on Iran’s nuclear program will end in 20 years.
When asked if the program would be completely stopped, Trump replied: “Not for years, but indefinitely.”
One of the proposals being discussed is unfreezing the US $20 billion frozen Iranian funds in exchange for Tehran giving up its stockpiles of enriched uranium, the Axios portal reported earlier.
Trump rejected the idea in a phone interview, repeatedly saying no when asked if he would unfreeze $20 billion in assets — or any Iranian funds at all.
Trump earlier said negotiators from the US and Iran were likely to meet this weekend and he expected them to reach of the final agreement to end the war.
We will remind:
- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that according to the terms of the cease-fire in Lebanon, passage for all merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open during the ceasefire.
-
Trump, in response to such an announcement, said that the blockade of Iranian ports “will remain in full force and effect“until the US-Iran deal “is 100% implemented”.
