On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal quoted American officials as saying that President Donald Trump had instructed his aides to prepare to impose a prolonged blockade on Iran.
The report said that Trump preferred, in recent meetings, to maintain pressure on the Iranian economy and Iranian oil exports by preventing shipping to and from its ports, and that he believed that other options, including resuming the bombing or withdrawing from the conflict, entail greater risks than maintaining the blockade.
