Ulaanbaatar,
April 13, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Education Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren met
with Fiona Blyth, Ambassador
of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Mongolia, to exchange
views on the progress and outcomes of bilateral cooperation in the educational
sector.
During the meeting, Minister Enkh-Amgalan highlighted
the results of the project to strengthen the capacity of English language teachers
in remote areas, which has been implemented following his 2024 meeting, while
serving as Minister of Education and Science, with former UK Prime Minister
David Cameron. He expressed satisfaction with the project’s successful
implementation and tangible outcomes.
The minister also recalled the pledged GBP 10
million in funding to support English language education, and requested that
the remaining funding be reiterated during the upcoming visit scheduled for May.
To date, Mongolia has received GBP 1.1 million, which has been used to
strengthen the capacity of 739 teachers. The project has been implemented in
eight remote aimags, involving 739 teachers of 219 general education schools, covering
more than 20% of all English language teachers nationwide. It was emphasized
that the initiative is making a significant contribution toward ensuring equitable
access to quality English language education.
In addition, the minister conveyed his
interest in meeting with Seema Malhotra, Parliamentary
Under-Secretary of State for Indo-Pacific in the Foreign, Commonwealth and
Development Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
