Through social networks the Cyber Police warned about a new scam mode known as “cross call”, where criminals simulate a virtual kidnapping before his victims.
According to the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City, this strategy is a psychological manipulation designed to exploit the fear and the confusion of victims in order to obtain an economic benefit.

The authorities point out that a key point to avoid receiving fraudulent calls on your mobile device is not to share personal information on social networks. In addition to paying attention to the following points:
- Check the identity who contacts you
- Be wary of unknown numbersreport and block the contact or group
- Use passwords safe and unique words to identify your family members
- Set the privacy of your social networks to limit who can access your personal information
- If you detect a suspicious profile or an attempt to fraudreport it directly to the competent authorities, such as the Cyber Police
