In the continuation of the statement, Sheikh Al-Thani further said that freedom of navigation is a basic and non-negotiable principle.
In this telephone conversation, the Foreign Minister of Qatar also said that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using it as a bargaining tool will only deepen the crisis and endanger the vital interests of the countries in the region.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran exchanged views on the latest regional developments and current diplomatic trends in a telephone call with Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, last Sunday (6th of Ardibehesht).
According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, in this phone call, Araghchi explained the various aspects of the current situation in the region, especially the developments related to the ceasefire and the challenges facing its stabilization, and informed his Qatari counterpart about the latest initiatives and diplomatic efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran to end the war and reduce tensions.
