An agent of the National Police of Asunción who was filmed when he allegedly consumed drugs in public was provisionally separated from his position and an administrative summary was opened. The case was also reported to the Public Ministry.
This Saturday, the National Police announced the provisional separation of an agent from a police station from his duties Assumption after the dissemination on social networks of a video in which the uniformed man is observed allegedly consuming a narcotic substance.
The viralized video shows a uniformed police officer on public roads, in the area of the Market 4. The agent is seen smoking a cigarette of what is presumed to be a narcotic.
In a statement issued today, the Police affirm that the agent has already been identified, the case was sent to the address of Internal Affairs of the institution, which ordered the opening of an administrative summary and the “preventive separation of the position of the personnel involved”.
In addition, the police institution reported that the background of the case was sent to the Public Ministry.
Summary will last up to 90 days
In conversation with ABC Colorthe commissioner Maria Achucarrodirector of Strategic Communication of the Police, did not want to confirm which police station the agent involved works in, limiting herself to saying that “it corresponds to the Asunción Directorate” and that he was on duty when it was filmed.
“We have to presume innocence and have (the agent) present his plea in the process,” said Commissioner Achucarro.

The police chief explained that the administrative summary initiated can be prolonged for up to 90 days.
He added that it must be determined whether the offense, if it is corroborated, should be considered “mild” or “serious.” He pointed out that an offense considered serious can lead to the dismissal of the uniformed officer.
