Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the accusations that he went to Switzerland using Albanian taxpayers’ money, while since the 16th day, Albanians have filled the squares in Tirana and the world, demanding his resignation and the departure of the government.
In a post on the official networks, Rama writes that he has never traveled privately at the expense of Albanian citizens, while he once again repeated the famous expression when he was at the head of the municipality of Tirana: “There is no son, mother or son…, that will find in my pocket a penny that was not earned by honest work”!
The Prime Minister clarified that he was privately invited to Switzerland by “ArtBasel”, the annual fair of the most prestigious art galleries in the world, where his works were also presented.
“We traveled and stayed a day and a half with my wife, as always in these cases, completely at our own expense,” said Rama.

WHY THE SLAMMER APPEARS WORSE THAN THE MURDERER IN THE HOLY BOOKS…
I shared a video where someone caught me drinking water in Basel, Switzerland “at the expense of the state”!
In almost three decades of public service, I have never traveled privately with state money, and the same goes for my family.
In 13 years as Prime Minister, my family and I have never gone on vacation abroad.
In Switzerland, I was privately invited by ArtBasel, the annual fair of the most prestigious art galleries in the world, where my works were also presented. We traveled and stayed a day and a half with my wife, as always in these cases, completely at our own expense.
But this is a good, timely occasion to put a sharp dot on the “i”:
About twenty years ago, when my skin had not yet been smeared with the mud of slander and unaccountable accusations, I made a public statement saying that “there is no son, mother or son…, to find in my pocket a penny that was not earned by honest work”!
Today, two decades later, I am no longer that 40-year-old still unaccustomed to the existence of the muddy arena of political life, who lost sleep from the burning wounds of slander and criminal accusations.
But I say with pride, that that sentence released at that time out of pain and out of a sense of shame in front of my people and all those who had entrusted me with the direction of Tirana, remains 100% inviolable in its content even today, in front of all those who have trusted me with the direction of Albania.
And never forget:
Whoever slanders or accuses you without proof, has either done what he accuses you of or would do it if he were in your place, therefore jealousy or hatred or both together make him believe every charade that comes out of his mouth.
And when I see how the world we live in has become more and more thanks to social networks, the lawn where the endless thorns of the cloud multiply at the speed of the click, while the flowers of truth are usually smothered by the thorns of this dizzying degradation, I always think of the Holy Books, where the slanderer appears even worse than the murderer.
