The Turkish prodigy Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus entered the top 30 of the FIDE world ranking, thanks to which he set a new world achievement.
The day before, a 14-year-old boy overplayed Bulgarian Grandmaster Veselin Topalov in the “Battle of Generations III” match, thanks to which he scored 2700 ELO points.
Thus, Erdogmush became the youngest chess player in history to reach such a mark – previously this achievement belonged to the Chinese grandmaster Wei Yi (15 years old in 2016, editor’s note).
“Achieving 2,700 points has been my dream for a long time. I always try to play chess well first. Now I will try to reach 2,800. This is my next goal. But I know it will require a lot of time and hard work,” Erdogmus said after the victory.

It should be noted that the victory over Topalov also allowed Yagiz to enter the top 30 of the real-time FIDE ranking and overtake such masters as Teymur Rajabov, Matthias Blubaum and Nodirbek Yakubboev.
Erdogmush is a phenomenal chess talent. He broke the 2,400 mark at age 11, became a grandmaster at age 12, broke the 2,600 mark at age 13, and holds the record for highest ranking by age 13, 14, and 15.
Earlier it was reported that 17-year-old Roman Degtyarev from Kharkiv became the European chess champion.
