Bulgarian President Iliana Yotova, who arrived in Yerevan to participate in the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, was hosted by the representatives of the Bulgarian delegation on May 3 in the name of the famous Bulgarian poet Peyo Yavorov. 131 in primary schools.
The delegation also included the Director General of the Bulgarian National News Agency, BTA, Kirill Valchev, who was accompanied by “Armenpress” Narine Nazaryan, director of the state news agency. The two agencies have a long history of cooperation, which began in 2004 and was given a new lease of life with a new document signed in Sofia in 2022.

The students of the school greeted the guests with a Bulgarian song and dance. performed the famous and popular song “My country, my Bulgaria” and danced the Bulgarian national dance.
Mariam Voskanyan, the deputy director of Peyo Yavorov school for extracurricular and extracurricular affairs, emphasized that the age-old friendship of the Armenian and Bulgarian peoples has withstood the test of time, and one of the honest documentaries of that friendship was the great Bulgarian poet Peyo Yavorov, whose work “The Armenians” is a response to the tragic history of the Armenian people during the Hamidian pogroms.
“In 1966, grateful Armenians named after Peyo Yavorov. 131 school, and since that day our educational center became an important link of the bridge of Armenian-Bulgarian friendship. The school approaches its mission with honor and responsibility, presenting the “Peyo Yavorov” Museum of Armenian-Bulgarian Friendship, Bulgarian flavor, speech, song and dance to the delegations it hosts, also during similar extracurricular activities,” said Mariam Voskanyan and stressed that they are grateful to the Bulgarian government for the attention and active support shown to the school.
He added that they have very warm relations with the Bulgarian Embassy in Armenia and hope that this closeness will be lasting.

According to Bulgarian President Iliana Yotova, she felt a flutter in her heart when she saw the statue of Peyo Yavorov near the school.
He considered it encouraging that Peyo Yavorov supported the Armenian people with “Armenians” and other works.
“I don’t know a poet who wrote about Armenia with such warmth and presented the history of Armenia so movingly,” said Yotova.
In the development of friendly relations between the two countries, the president also emphasized the fact that there are five Armenian schools in Bulgaria, and the 6th one will be opened soon. “Children are taught Armenian art and culture in schools. The students know Armenian song and dance as well as Armenian children know Bulgarian culture,” said Yotova.
He invited the teachers and students of the school named after Peyo Yavorov to the birthplace of the poet, the city of Chirpan, where they will be able to jointly present the Armenian and Bulgarian cultures.
During the visit, President Yotova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia Nikola Nikolov and other guests were accompanied to the “Armat” engineering laboratory, which was founded in 2023 by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Armenia and the Union of Advanced Technologies Enterprises. Children who won various competitions organized in Singapore and other countries, “Koriz” study in the laboratory.
