The Supervisory Committee to regulate the process of importing compounds and chemicals used in mining activities held a meeting today, headed by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Minerals for Mineral Affairs, Dr. Yahya Al-Ajam.
The meeting discussed the necessary procedures and mechanisms to regulate the import of compounds and chemicals in mining operations, thus contributing to reducing environmental and health risks.
The meeting stressed the importance of strengthening coordination between relevant authorities to ensure effective control of chemicals used in the mining sector, and the application of approved environmental requirements and standards.
The meeting produced a number of outcomes, most notably the inventory, preparation and preparation of a comprehensive list of imported chemicals used in mining operations, which contributes to regulating their circulation, tightening control over them, and reducing their potential environmental impacts.
