The Montevideo Police investigate the discovery of a body that appeared floating in the Miguelete stream on this Friday morning, sources from the Home Office to The Observer.
The victim is a man who has not yet been identified and whose body was found in the vicinity of the 40 Semanas neighborhood, near José Batlle y Ordóñez, as first reported by Telemundo (Channel 12).
According to the primary information collected by the average person at the scene, the discovery was made by a worker who was cutting the grass in the area. After noticing the presence of the body in the water, he notified the property’s private security personnel, who subsequently contacted the 911 emergency service.
The body was face down
Several police vehicles attended the scene and observed the presence of a man floating face down in the stream.
According to the first observations, the victim was dressed and had characteristics that suggest that he had been in the water for several days, so it would not be a recent death.
Due to the difficulties in accessing the place where the body is located, so far the authorities have not been able to determine if there are visible signs of violence.
Scientific Police, Homicides and Firefighters work
The investigation continues while waiting for Firefighters to remove the body from the water to allow experts to work.
Once the extraction is completed, the Scientific Police will carry out an initial survey in search of evidence that may provide information about the circumstances of the death.
Subsequently, the body will undergo an autopsy, which will establish the identity of the victim and determine the causes of death.
