Martyr Al-Hafiz, June 8, 2026 (SPS) – The Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, concluded his visit to the Sahrawi party.
The visit included – according to what the representative of the Front at the United Nations and the coordinator with the MINURSO mission, member of the National Secretariat, Dr. Siyi Mohamed Ammar, told the Sahrawi News Agency – a meeting and talks with a group of representatives of Sahrawi women’s, youth and human rights organizations, as well as representatives of the Advisory Council.

The Personal Envoy also held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, to analyze the reality of the UN-sponsored peace process and its prospects in light of the three round of talks held at the beginning of this year under joint sponsorship between the United Nations and the United States of America.

Mr. de Mistura concluded his visit by holding consultations with the Sahrawi leadership, as the meeting represented an opportunity for the Sahrawi party to confirm its firm position of supporting international efforts aimed at completing the decolonization of Western Sahara on the basis of respect for the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence, and rejecting all solutions that do not guarantee the Sahrawi people their right to freedom and self-determination.
