Geneva (Switzerland), June 6, 2026 (SPS) – The General Union of Workers of Saguia El-Hamra and Rio de Oro (UGTSARIO) has participated in the sixth edition of the Solidarity Trade Union Forum of Latin American labor organizations, held under the theme “United America.”
The event brought together numerous national and continental trade unions and labor organizations representing a broad spectrum of workers’ movements across South America and several Caribbean countries.
The forum, organized on the sidelines of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, saw participants express their support for the just struggle of the Sahrawi people and their solidarity with Sahrawi workers amid the difficult circumstances resulting from occupation, displacement, refuge, and the siege imposed on the occupied parts of the Sahrawi Republic.
In his address to the forum, UGTSARIO Secretary-General Nafei Ahmed Mohamed highlighted the deep and longstanding ties between the Sahrawi people and Latin America at all levels. He emphasized the important role of trade union solidarity in confronting common challenges.
