The Ministry of Education condemned the targeting of education inspectors and the publication of their names and photos in public space.
“Such a practice represents unacceptable pressure and a form of intimidation that endangers the personal safety of professionals and seriously disrupts institutional order,” the Ministry stated in a statement, responding to a post on the account of the blocked Faculty of Medicine on the X social network.
On that account, photos and names of educational inspectors who, as it says, gave the green light to electoral theft at the Faculty of Medicine in the elections for the new convocation of the Student Parliament, were previously published.
The students stated that the inspection was carried out on April 17, but that the manner in which it was carried out raises serious questions about the validity of the conclusions reached.
“Republican educational inspectors themselves stated that they are not authorized to inspect election materials, count votes or compare the shape and color of ballots, noting that the Election Commission is solely responsible for that. This raises a key question: how was it possible to reach a conclusion about its regularity without an insight into the most important part of the election process,” the students ask.
They also stated that at the time of the inspection, the electoral material was sealed, which, they say, made any essential verification impossible.
“Without inspection of the ballots and their validity, it remains unclear on what basis they removed suspicions of possible irregularities”, according to the students.
On the other hand, the Ministry says that “aggressive moralism encouraged by the media further inflames social tensions and directly obstructs the lawful implementation of inspection supervision in higher education institutions.”
In this way, the educational authority claims, a dangerous practice of public lynching is being introduced, directed against those whose only “sin” is that they conscientiously and professionally determine the facts and circumstances related to the implemented procedures.
“We remind the public that educational inspectors have no role in determining the outcome of elections for the student parliament, nor is it part of their legal responsibilities. Their duty is exclusively control – to examine the legality of procedures and point out possible irregularities. Dissatisfaction with the results of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the obvious frustration of the part of the self-styled ‘student elite’, with the support of some irresponsible professors, led to the fact that the legal work of the inspection was prevented through media pressure. Such actions indicate the intention to render meaningless and prevent the implementation of supervision in the system of higher education”, notes the Ministry of Education.
They emphasize that the educational inspection is not a repressive body, but a key mechanism for determining and eliminating irregularities in the work of educational institutions, in order to protect legality and public interest.
“The Education Inspection of the Ministry of Education will continue to perform its duties professionally, responsibly and in accordance with the law, despite the pressures, intimidation attempts and inappropriate campaigns coming from the media and the so-called ‘academic elite’,” the Ministry concluded.
Let us remind you that the students from the Sinapsa organization, who disputed the results and the announced victory of the rival list Medicinski krug, announce the filing of criminal charges due to the suspicion that part of the ballots were falsified.
