The Minister of Internal Affairs about the case of suspected drug discovery in the body of a 12-year-old student

“The case is worrying for us. This is the first time that we have such a situation. The entire law enforcement system is properly monitoring the case, we have a report that we have passed on to the investigative body. At the beginning, we had an identified person, but it seems that the facts were not enough,” said Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan during a briefing in the National Assembly, referring to the case of suspected drug discovery in the body of a 12-year-old student.

To remind, Karine Torosyan, president of “Give Your Hand” community development NGO, appealed to Arpine Sargsyan. According to his data, the 12-year-old student of Arpi Trpanchyan secondary school in Orgov village of Ashtarak community ended up in the hospital after a school excursion.

He claimed that according to the medical report available to him, narcotics were found in the child’s body. “According to the available data, we are talking about a high dose, and the child is currently in the hospital, in a serious condition and with memory loss. Moreover, the doctors confirmed that the child used it for the first time. It is assumed that it was transmitted to the child through sweets.

Arpine Sargsyan explained: “Since the child was also taken to a medical facility, at first it was unclear to the parents what caused the incident, then as a result of the examination, traces of drugs were found, and as a result of the final examination, we will find out whether we are dealing with drugs or not.” They went on an excursion with the class, from the beginning there were some hypotheses, they were denied. It is clear that we keep the whole class and the school under our attention. At the moment, we do not have a definitively identified person.”

Arpine Hovhannisyan said on the occasion of the violations recorded during the elections and the fact that the opposition is appealing the results of the elections. “Free, fair and transparent elections were held in Armenia. We continue operational intelligence measures. Next, there will be more arrests, and if necessary, there will also be cases of more severe restraining order.
