After the break in the large European fighter jet project FCAS, the defense industry in Europe is reorganizing itself. And Spain is strikingly quick to speak out. Six Spanish companies are offering themselves to the Ministry of Defense in Madrid and possible European partners as partners for a new air combat system. This also includes countries like Germany.
This gives the debate about Europe’s next fighter jet a new twist. While eight German defense and aviation companies formed “Team Gen 6” at the ILA aerospace exhibition in Berlin, a separate industrial bloc is setting up in Spain at the same time. The message is clear: If Germany makes a new attempt after the failure of the German-French FCAS project, Spain does not want to be left on the sidelines, but rather join in.
