Subjects dressed as police officers break into a home and execute three people in zone 3 of the capital

Three members of a family were forcibly removed from a home by men dressed as police during the early hours of this Wednesday in zone 3 of the capital and, hours later, they were located shot dead about 1.7 kilometers from the property, according to reports from the National Civil Police (PNC).

The incident occurred in a house located at 16 5-11 street, El Gallito neighborhood, zone 3where neighbors alerted the authorities about the presence of two individuals dressed in uniforms similar to those of the PNC, who were trying to force their way into the property.

According to the police report, a group of officers who went to the home found the main door open and with signs of having been forced. Inside they located two children, ages 2 and 9.

The minors told the agents that several armed people entered the house and took three relatives in vehicles whose characteristics they did not know.

Preliminarily, the Police indicated that the people forced to leave the home were Marta Tiul, Ana Patricia Tiul and her husband, Alexander Cacao.

The report indicates that during an inspection it was observed that the interior of the house was disorderly, so the Public Ministry (MP) was notified.

The bodies were located 1.7 kilometers away

Hours later, the Municipal Firefighters reported the discovery of three people who died from gunshot wounds on the 2nd. avenue and 4th. zone 3 street.

Rescuers reported that the victims were two women and a man. They added that the three people were barefoot and that the man had his hands tied in front with an electrical power cable.

The deceased were the married couple and a family member who were executed on public roads. Neighbors told investigators that those responsible fled in a black vehicle.

The police report indicates that Alexander Cacao was half naked and tied his hands with a white cable. In addition, he had three gunshot wounds: two in the skull and one in the left arm.

One of the women was wearing an orange blouse and black shorts. The victim had a gunshot wound to the face. The second woman had a gunshot wound to the right side of her skull.

The PNC reported that it coordinated with the Attorney General’s Office (PGN) to protect the two minors located in the home.

Other executions in which police uniforms are worn

This is not the first case in which a criminal group uses uniforms similar to those of the PNC and MP prosecutors to commit a crime.

According to the complaints, the suspects arrive at residential properties dressed in clothing similar to those used by MP prosecutors and PNC agents. When they arrive at checkpoints or homes, they present supposed search warrants to convince security guards or owners to allow them entry.

One of the events investigated occurred on May 20 in zone 1 of FraijanesGuatemala, where armed men broke into a home and threatened the occupants while pretending to carry out an official errand.

On that occasion, the criminal group stole a watch valued at Q20 thousand, a hopper and 21 ammunition.

Another case was recorded on May 21 and was captured by security cameras in the Pinares neighborhood, San Cristóbal, zone 8 of Mixco.

The men and women in uniforms similar to those of the Public Ministry and the PNC told the owners that they would carry out a raid, but they stole valuable belongings, including jewelry.

On May 1, another case was registered with the same way of operating and dressing, this time in the Hacienda Las Mercedes 1 residential complex, in San José PinulaGuatemala.

The criminal group tortured and executed José Aníbal Pérez Juárez, 39, and Mayra Nineth Lucas Urías de Pérez, 40, inside the home. The first investigations link the crime to a fight related to drug dealing.
